About the trail
Chapman's Peak rises above the famous coastal drive between Hout Bay and Noordhoek. From the top you see Hout Bay harbour and the Sentinel on one side and the long white curve of Noordhoek Beach on the other, with the peaks of the peninsula running south.
The climb is steady rather than technical, on a clear path through fynbos. Late afternoon is beautiful here, with the light on the water and long shadows across the mountains. Note that the drive itself is a toll road.
