About the trail

Newlands Forest covers the lower eastern slopes of Table Mountain with indigenous forest and tall pines. The paths follow and cross Newlands Stream, with plenty of shade, which makes it the best hike in Cape Town for a hot summer day.

It is a gentle walk and a good first hike, but the forest also connects to the contour path and the ravines higher up, so the route can be stretched for a fitter group.
