About Emlyn
It's not just about the summit
I'm a Cape Town hiking guide with a deep love for our mountains and the cultural and historical heritage of the Cape.
For me, hiking is about discovering new places, connecting with nature, and learning the stories that shaped our surroundings. I want every hike to bring you closer to Cape Town: its mountains, its people and its heritage.
Meeting people from all over, and taking them to places they might never find on their own, is what makes guiding so rewarding.

Questions
Before you lace up
Do I need to be very fit?
No. Hikes are matched to your fitness and experience, from gentle walks with big views to steeper scrambles. Tell me how often you walk or hike and I will suggest a route that suits you.
Is it safe?
Safety comes first on every hike. I am a certified hiking guide and first aid certified, I plan the route around the weather and the group, and we look after one another the whole way.
Which languages do you guide in?
English and Afrikaans.
Can you take a private group?
Yes. Private hikes for couples, families, friends, teams and clubs, as well as group hikes.
How much does a guided hike cost?
Prices are per person and drop as your group grows. One person pays R3 200; in a group of 8 or more it is between R1 100 and R1 600 each, depending on the trail. Every hike page shows the full price list.
How do I book?
Send me a WhatsApp with the trail you have in mind, the date and how many of you there are. We will plan the rest together.
